Expect great things from God; Attempt great things for God -- William Carey

William Carey Baptist WMU Report
On October 16th, 2010, 20 ladies attended the RefresHer Event and Prayer Retreat at Gunter Hollow Lodge. Jane Jeffres had a wonderful Foreign Mission study on Thailand and the special speaker, Rosemary Fisher did a great job. A special offering of $60.00 was taken in memory of Mrs. Oseline Gamble to send to the WMU Foundation. Mrs. Gamble was very active in the WCBA WMU and will be greatly missed. I would like to thank Ruby Echols, WCBA WOM Consultant for putting this together.
Our WMU Kick-Off Prayer Coffee was on January 8th, 2011 at the WCBA Ministry Center on January 8th. Kathy Ward did an outstanding job challenging and encouraging the 18 ladies present with her presentation.
On Sunday, February 13th, we met at WCBA for the WMU Focus Week (February 14th-20th) “Missions Unhindered—We have a heart for you”.
We had a great time at the WMU Breakfast on March 5th with good food, fun, fellowship and prayer time.
Missions Get Together in Gatlinburg was great as usual, with the music, speakers, missionaries, and special sessions on just about everything. Ladies, if you have never been, you need to plan on going in 2012! It is worth the expense and it’s not expensive for what you get.
Our ladies meeting at Mulberry FBC on May 5th was a special event and you missed a huge blessing if you were not there. Haley Caldwell did a great job of sharing about her first mission trip. Thank you Mulberry for hosting this meeting and for the delicious refreshments. We had a good turn out and I appreciate all the ladies who came. THANK YOU ALL!
Our WMU Annual Covered Dish Meeting was at Parks City on July 27th with over 30 present and 6 churches represented. Our speaker for the evening was “yours truly” (by request, I might add). The program was on the Belizean Missions and Disaster Relief Missions, because first and foremost, when we go out on Disaster Relief, we are missionaries. Guest musicians were Rebecca Fulkerson and her three lovely daughters. We are very privileged to have Rebecca and her most talented daughters to be our very own WMU musicians for the year. We are looking forward to more great singing in our prayer coffee on November 5th, 2011.
Thank you for your support in electing me as your WCBA WMU Director for another year. This is however the last year I can serve so be thinking who will be your next Director.
On September 8th at 10:00am, the WMU (with the help of the Brotherhood) fed the fair workers and I would like to thank everyone who provided the food to feed the workers. We fed well over 100 fair workers and they are always very appreciative of the “country cooking”. Also, the Brotherhood passed out Bibles to workers. I would also like to thank all the churches and workers for participating in the Fair booth ministry. We distributed tracts, Bibles, Children's books, CDs, and other door prizes. Water was also furnished through the week. This is a wonderful outreach mission for WCBA. I would also like to thank Mevis Swinford for all her hard work in making this ministry such a success every year. The WMU would like to express very special thank you to the Disaster Relief who allowed us to park in the new Disaster Relief facility parking lot and all their consideration to the WMU.
September 11th—18th was the Week of Prayer for Golden Offering for Tennessee missions.
To all you WMU ladies who missed out on the Family Night at Cash Point, you really missed a blessing!!. Cash Point really went all out! The whole church was beautifully decorated, the food, music, and reception all was overwhelmingly great. Bro. Tony Rankin's message on Family Values was outstanding (one of the best I have ever heard). Hopefully we will get a repeat event next year.
 Respectfully submitted,
Marjorie Davis, WCBA WMU Director
